What is Rainwater Harvesting?

All water starts as rain, which makes its way over time into our rivers, lakes and aquifers.  Sadly, many of these ancient reservoirs of water are being polluted and diminished by modern agriculture, extractive industries and the impending failure and increasing cost of urban water systems.  Rainwater harvesting is the direct capture and storage of fresh and safe rainwater, which may be our best hope for future access to clean water supplies for drinking and growing crops.

We extend rain events at Yanaguana with an underground cistern, an artificial aquifer, rainwater tanks and rain barrels.
